About Roland "Roy"
Stefani...
PDS Music features
the oustanding 6 and 9-piece band arrangements written by jazz
trombonist Roland "Roy" Stefani (1925-1991), one of
the "best-kept" secrets on the national music scene
for years. He started his professional jazz arranging career
at the early age of eighteen-years old, influenced by the likes
of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Glenn
Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, and many others.
One of the most
unique aspects of Stefani's arrangements was his uncanny way
of creating a "big band" sound out of a relatively
small ensemble, making his work especially attractive and endearing
to bandleaders the world over, years after his untimely passing
in the early nineties. It is with great pride that PDS Music
continues to make these charts available, extending the fine
contributions of this brilliant arranger and composer!
